American Central Airlines was founded as Tri-State Flight Service dba Mid-Continent Airlines. They changed their name in January, 1982 as rights to MCA's name was held by others. The airline was grounded by the FAA December 8, 1984 and re-certified on June 6, 1985. They filed for bankruptcy on March 9, 1985.
